I have officially joined Ginger Boutique. It is so much fun to be in this environment again. Being  around clothes and helping ladies with their style is so much fun for me. Beautiful Living: Work Spaces

With 2013 well on its way, I am feeling the need to refresh everything in my house. That includes carving out a work space for myself. Never mind his own space, hubby Tom has a complete room to call his office. I sit at my kitchen island table and though it is a nice bright spot I would love to sit behind the desk in this picture. Love the floor too. (Brooke Giannetti designs)

What a great idea! Now I just have to find the closet to empty out.

Winter Woolies

Ok, I am thinking that we are about half way through the winter. Please tell me it's true. There are some good things about winter I guess like sitting next to a warm crackling fire and wearing beautiful wools. I have finally accepted that if I wear warm clothes I won't be cold. That can sometimes present a challenge when it comes to styling right? One of my tricks is to wear long sleeve t-shirts under everything and the bulkier the sweater the better. The key is to wear straight lines on the bottom half. Straight skirts and pants look best. Here I am featuring my favorite winter white wool skirt.

I am sure if many of you are like me, half your closet is black and white. You will be happy to know those are the colors trending for spring and summer.

Mixing It Up J Crew Style

J Crew has an amazing way of combining and mixing things together in a way that would not occur to most people. It is all thanks to creative director Jenna Lyons. She has taken a what once was a conservative brand and has made it into a preppy cool and hip line. The idea is to mix patterns and color  to make it your own style. One simple way to do this is with the shoes you elect to wear with your ensemble. If your are leery about stepping outside of your comfort zone, then simply hop on their website or glance at their seasonal catalogs and see what you can imitate. Have fun with it! That is what it is all about.

Beautiful Living: The Well Dressed Bed

I think a bed should be as well dressed as you are. To me there is nothing like getting in a bed that looks beautiful and inviting. After all, the way you present your home is such an expression of who you are. Designers tell us that the key to dressing a bed is to use different textures such as the white fur throw pillow. 

The beautiful upholstered headboard and complimenting fabrics give this bed that designer look.

Happy New Year!  Even though we are in the middle of winter here in the DC area, we are looking ahead to springtime in fashion. Here are a few trends for spring. Some I like and some are not for me. As you know there is no need to run out and add every trend to your wardrobe, but a little splash of something is always fun. METAL is in with jewelry. Chunky. Now that I like!
