Holiday Time

Have a wonderful time enjoying the people you love in your life, whether they are near or far. Reflecting back on the year, I realize how time flies. I am sure you do too. I am so grateful for my husband, children, family and all the wonderful friends in our lives. We are very blessed and I am careful to remember the real meaning of Christmas.

Winter White

Just because we are hanging up our white jeans does not mean that we can't wear our winter whites. It is all in the appropriate fabric. Linen is obviously something we would not wear here in this climate. Wool and polyester blends are good. Winter white is such a bright substitute to the dark colors we tend to wear during the cold months.

Long and Comfy

Maxi dresses have been in trend for the past couple of summers. Why not try a long skirt for fall and wear it right into winter. The long skirt is a really nice option to a black pair of slacks. This look is very tailored with the crisp white shirt. A burgundy ( waist length) or honey color buttery leather jacket would be beautiful with it. Other things I would pair with it would include a scarf, cashmere sweater, turtle neck top, denim jacket or shirt, a fur vest....So many options. Try adding this staple to your wardrobe. And may I add, a very comfortable way to travel. (this skirt is not available but if you would like to order other black skirt options, click on the highlighted links right below)

Ruffles

This girly blouse is an oldie but a goodie. It's an old J Crew one and I really wish they would bring it back in different colors. I usually wear it with faded jeans because I love the contrast between a frilly blouse and a pair of worn down jeans. Just add a cute cropped jacket in the fall and voila. Here is a summer look with it.

Gazebo Moments

This beautiful gazebo comes with the house we rent every year on Silver Lake at Rehoboth beach. It just may be the main reason why we keep coming back. It is a tradition that every evening we come out here to have our cocktails and jam sessions. I'm pretty sure we serenade the whole neighborhood. We have a lot of wonderful memories from previous years and looking forward to making more tonight.

Love my maxi's. I ordered this skirt on line a few weeks ago and honestly can't remember where I got it. The white tank is from Old Navy. Throw a faded jean jacket or shrug and you are ready to go. What a nice place to enjoy a refreshing vodka tonic don't you think?

Love the built in benches on either side. Very convenient.

Bright and Cheery

I have told you I love pleated skirts and I stumbled on this bright yellow one. Ok...I will admit I got this for $15 at Forever 21. Yes, you heard me. I was shopping with Kaelynn (my 17 year old daughter) saw it, looked at the price, dug deep in my pockets and got it. Ha! Talk about bargain shopping. A bright blue t-shirt and a fun statement necklace and viola you have a bright summer ensemble. I also have to admit that I have acquired a lot of yellow items in the last two summers.  I'm going to start looking like Tweety Bird soon if I don't stop!

10 Fashion Staples: Black Pencil Skirt

The black pencil skirt
#3 The Black Pencil skirt. You don't have to be a Twiggy to wear this classic shaped skirt. Timeless, elegant and a great "go to" piece for any occasion. They are usually worn long like this one, to the top of the knee or to the bottom of the knee. This longer version looks best on taller ladies. If you are petite go for the shorter version. Depending on the occasion, wear it with a blouse or even a tee shirt. Belt it too. You go sexy mama!

It's all about the shoes!

I walked into Anthropologie and saw these shoes. Asked for them in my size and bought them. I love to mix things up with something that has attitude and makes a statement. These funky shoes are something you can throw on with a lot of different things. Rest assured that you will see them on the blog a lot this  summer. Have some fun and make your statement.

Cheetahlicious!

I love animal prints. The Cheetah or Leopard prints are the most popular. They look very similar if you ask me, enough so I had to look them up.  So much fun to wear and add a real punch to any outfit. You can wear the print in a pencil skirt as shown here or a scarf, shoes or belt. Perhaps just a bag also. Red is a great color to pair with it. Go on and try it!
