Ship Ahoy

Our new toy. If we only knew how to sail it. Her name is the Catchastar. She has been in the family for about 30 years with my father, Rubens as captain. While we still consider him to be the true captain, he is in the midst of training my brother in law, who is the only one of us who really knows how to sail. The hubby, my sister and I are the crew. On the other hand, this dress is a great dress to throw on in the  hot summer months. I think this may be the last striped dress that I post for a while.

Tribute to Cinda

I wanted to post a tribute to a dear friend, Cinda Murdock Sengstack (above right). The mother of some very dear friends of mine. I got to know her back in high school when I met my wonderful friend Mary. Cinda was many things: kind, easy to talk to, fun and quite the FASHIONISTA. Oh yes, I always remember how stylish she looked when I would go over to their house. Head to toe. Perfectly accessorized. She and I shared a love for a store called Garfinckels. I remember how elegant she looked in dresses she wore from there. While she has left us here I can assure you she is the belle of the ball, totally in style, hosting parties for all the angels up above.

On the Green

Another comfy maxi dress. It is great for a hot summer night. I could have used a little suntan but oh well. If the cotton tee shirt fabric reveals to much of your precious body then try a rayon. It won't cling like this one may. 

I knew this necklace would prove to be a great summer piece.

Beauty secrets

I was not taking great care of my face these last few years. Got lazy I guess. So I decided I needed to do something about it. I originally went in to take care of some sun spots (which I did) but also proceeded to burst into tears about my aging skin. I jumped right in with questions about cosmetic surgery and quickly decided that I was not up for that. My doctor did recommend, what she calls facelift in a bottle. She said that while it would not get rid of the deeper lines it would really improve the look of my skin. Let me tell you it did. I started getting compliments about my skin  a month after I started using it. It was more translucent and smoother. Spots faded and pores really shrunk. I really recommend it. I went skipping in there for my follow up appointment. She even took before and after pictures so I could see the difference. And I did. :)

My favorite summer nail color: Atomic Orange 

Trying to stay out of the sun a little more. Great self tanner because it is gradual and moisturizing. A lot of them dry you out. If you are fair like me use the "new"one on the right. Gives a lighter color initially and has the SPF.

Fab Finds: Kate Spade Bags

I couldn't resist taking a picture of this Kate Spade display at Bloomies. What fun and beautiful bags. My two faves are the "Charm" one and the little orange/pink clutch on the bottom left. Now that we have to carry our own bags in Maryland, the "Charm" one would be perfect for shopping. The little orange clutch would just be perfect with so many things. Have a wonderful weekend! Going into the Antique district of Kensington is like visiting a little town somewhere out in the country.  It is so quaint with those beautiful Victorian homes and antique shops. It is a fantastic place to photograph and a fun place to find some great treasures for yourself and your home.

Does anybody know who lives here? Wish it was me!

Mother's Day

It was a beautiful day to celebrate Mother's day. I started the day by going to church with the hubby and our girl (the boy is in New Orleans). Then I was treated to Le Pain Quotidien for breakfast where we splurged on waffles and a salmon omelette. Yum! I frequently go to this place. It is a great place to meet up with a friend for a cup of coffee and a pastry. I love having lunch there too. The food is organic and delicious. It is located in Bethesda Md in the heart of town on Bethesda Row. There are some great boutiques and it is a great way to spend a sunny and warm afternoon. The day ended at my sister's/brother in law's for a wonderful dinner with friends and family. Hope your day was awesome too.

Fab Finds: Studded Sandals

I'm starting a new column every Friday called Fab Finds, where I will feature something I love each week. I LOVE bling on shoes. On anything really. There are a lot of beautiful sandals with a lot of bling out there. These are great because of the neutral color. Think of the possibilities. They would look great with a maxi skirt or dress. Think how cool you would look in these at a dinner party. Oh yeah.

Random Mix

I thought I would just post random shots for fun. Let's mix things up, shall we? White jeans/pants are a wardrobe staple for the summer. The jacket is a Ralph Lauren funky long denim one from Macy's. Pink blouse from Cache. White jeans are Citizens of Humanity from Bloomingdales.

"Get your motor runnin"... Down in Georgetown. Shirt was a gift. Dress worn as a skirt is from Nordstrom. I had looked everywhere for a polka dot pleated skirt and could not find one. When I found this dress I decided to make do. Now it has two functions right. Booties are Via Spiga from Bloomingdales.

Maximize it!

I can't tell you how much I love maxi dresses. I feel like I'm in my jammies when I wear them. The beauty about them is that anyone can wear them. Wear them anywhere from the market to dinner and all year round. From the super casual to an elegant and dressier version. Summer styles with sandals and winter ones with boots. I picked this one up in California. It screams beach! I can't wait. You will find a big selection online but they are in the stores as well. The white denim jacket is a staple for the summer months.

I am sure that you are seeing stripes everywhere. You will see several striped looks on the blog this season as you have also seen this fave white jacket. This cute green bag was a Mother's day gift from my sister about 6 years ago.  I thought it adds a great pop. Find a pop color to pair with black and white. Have a wonderful weekend. Are you celebrating 5 de Mayo or Kentucky Derby Day? Tough choice.

Here is our Fabulous Friend Lisa. It was a rainy and cool day when we shot this but she was radiant in her bright and beautiful outfit. Great and fun color combo. Love her sense of style and she always looks so put together.
